Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
- using the GP online system: SystmOnline
- Using our Accurx service
We have changed the way we issue prescriptions that are not sent to the patient’s nominated pharmacy. Almost all prescriptions will be signed and sent electronically (no signatures are required).
Patients who have not nominated a pharmacy will receive a barcode that will need to be scanned by the pharmacy. Our reception team can reprint lost barcodes. In exceptional circumstances, the pharmacy may be able to locate and download the electronic prescription without the barcode.
What is a Nominated Pharmacy? A nominated pharmacy is a pharmacy chosen by the patient where their prescriptions will be sent electronically. This makes it easier and quicker to collect your medications.
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

What to do with old medicines
Please do not bring old medicines to the surgery. Instead, take them to your local pharmacy for safe disposal. Do not put them in your household bin or flush them down the toilet. For more information, visit the NHS guidelines on disposing of old medicines.
Pharmacy First Scheme
The new Pharmacy First service allows patients to receive treatment and advice for several minor illnesses directly from their pharmacist, without needing to see a GP. This includes conditions like earache, sore throat, and urinary tract infections. This service aims to provide quicker and more convenient access to healthcare.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment. Most pharmacies have a private room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff.
