Cervical Screening (Smear Tests)

Government Programme

The Government programme invites women aged 25 to 64 years to have regular cervical smear tests. This test, also known as cervical screening, is crucial for checking the health of the cervix and helping to prevent cervical cancer.

Why It’s Important

Who Should Attend

All women and people with a cervix registered at the practice within this age group are encouraged to attend their cervical smear tests. Regular screening is essential as it can detect changes before they become serious.

How the Test is Conducted

The tests are carried out by our practice nurses, who then forward the samples to the laboratory for analysis. Informing the reception team of your smear test is essential to ensure that you are placed in the right clinic.

You will receive an invitation to book your cervical screening appointment. Please contact our reception team to schedule your test. For more information on cervical screening, visit the NHS Cervical Screening Guide.
