Integrated Care Board (ICB)

The Integrated Care Board (ICB) is a statutory body responsible for local NHS services, functions, performance, and budgets. It is directly accountable to the NHS and is made up of local NHS trusts, primary care providers, and local authorities.

Our vision

As an integrated care system of health and care partners, we have a shared vision to work better together to make Northamptonshire a place where people are active, confident, and empowered to take responsibility for good health and wellbeing, with quality integrated support and services available when they need help.

Five year joint forward plan

The NHS Northamptonshire Integrated Care Board five year joint forward plan outlines how we are working to achieve this vision. This plan links directly with the Northamptonshire Integrated Care Partnership ‘Live Your Best Life’ Strategy, published earlier in 2023, and also with the Health and Wellbeing Board Strategies for North and West Northamptonshire.

Record sharing

To improve the quality and continuity of care, we participate in local and national record sharing initiatives:

  • Summary care records (SCR): These records contain key information about your health, such as medications, allergies, and adverse reactions. They are accessible to healthcare professionals across England to ensure you receive safe and effective care, especially in emergencies.
  • Local record sharing: This allows healthcare professionals within the Northamptonshire area to access your health information, ensuring that all relevant details are available to those directly involved in your care.
  • National Care Records Service (NCRS): This secure system allows authorised health and care professionals across England to access your health information when needed, providing a comprehensive summary of your health and care information.
