Chaperones

At our practice, we are dedicated to ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for both patients and staff, adhering to best practices at all times.

Your Right to a Chaperone

You have the right to request a chaperone during your examination. Many of our staff members are trained to perform this role to ensure your comfort and safety.

How to Request a Chaperone

If you would like a chaperone to be present, please inform the reception staff when booking your appointment, if possible. Alternatively, you can request a chaperone from the practitioner at any time during your consultation.

NHS Guidelines on Chaperones

According to NHS guidelines, a chaperone acts as an impartial observer during medical examinations, providing reassurance and protection for both patients and healthcare professionals. Chaperones help maintain professional boundaries and ensure that examinations are conducted appropriately and respectfully.

Why Chaperones Matter

Chaperones play a crucial role in safeguarding the dignity and privacy of patients. They provide emotional comfort and can help alleviate any anxiety or discomfort during intimate examinations. Additionally, chaperones protect healthcare professionals from unfounded allegations of misconduct.

We hope this information helps you understand the importance of chaperones and encourages you to request one if it would make you feel more comfortable during your visit.

“Having a chaperone made me feel more at ease during a very personal examination. It was reassuring to know that someone was there to support me and ensure everything was conducted professionally.”
